Anisha Gerber

Mentors: Keia Sanderson, MD MSCR, and Susan Hogan, PhD

Dr. Gerber is a pediatric nephrology fellow at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She completed her B.S. and B.A. at the University of Georgia and her M.D. at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She completed her residency in pediatrics at UNC Children’s.

Dr. Gerber’s research focuses on environmental impacts on pediatric kidney health, including in regions that have a high prevalence of chronic interstitial nephritis in agricultural communities. She is also interested in research as an advocacy tool to address disparities in pediatric dialysis and kidney transplant. She hopes her research will improve access to kidney care for children living in resource-limited settings and provide answers about how to mitigate negative impacts of environmental toxicants on kidney health.

Outside of clinical work and research, Dr. Gerber loves reading and spending time outdoors with her family
